Albacete Vialia Station is the second station of this Adif brand designed for high speed rail travel. The Vialia concept consists of transforming railway stations into modern centres featuring activities complementary to actual transport functions in order to integrate the station into the city as a meeting point and hub for transport, leisure and culture. The commercial area houses 43 establishments providing food service, culture and leisure opportunities.
To boost energy efficiency, this high speed station boasts a photovoltaic plant. Located in the outside car park, this is composed of 800 photovoltaic panels occupying a surface area of 1,200 m² with capacity to generate 163,460 kWh per year. This technology will prevent the emission of 172 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere every year.
