Adif will advise the Government of India to improve rail services in the Delhi region
Adif took a new step forward in India, a country where our company has been working for several years, among other areas, in the field of High Speed lines (Nagpur-Mumbai). This time, Adif will cooperate with the Government of India, by providing expert advice concerning the commuter services of the capital region, Delhi.
For this, Adif signed an agreement with the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri. It establishes a new working framework between Adif and the NCRTC (National Capital Region Transport Corporation), an entity formed by the Government of India and the states of Delhi, Harayana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
NCRTC has been commissioned by the Indian Government to establish the Regional Rail Rapid Transit System in the Delhi region, which includes these states and gathers a population of 46 million inhabitants in an area of 35,000 km2, which means an important population density in a relatively small environment.
Through this agreement, Adif will advise NCRTC in the planning and development of rail infrastructure in the Delhi region, especially in technical requirements to increase speed, frequencies and capacity, as well as to improve network reliability and intermodality, security and information systems.
For this, Adif will work in areas such as planning and urban development, infrastructure planning, functional designs, feasibility studies, modernization of infrastructure-related technologies (track, tunnels, viaducts, electrification and width changers) and the modernization of the management of circulation.
